After our conversation, our truthful conversation, about Santa, Honey went to school. I was worried about her debating the topic at school. I didn't want her to make other children sad b/c she is strong minded and would want to help them see the truth with her. She will convince me to give her a second cup of hot chocolate b/c it's cold. She can get another story out of me when it's 20 min past bed time. She can get me to put her violin music away for her - she easily convinces me to do things I promise myself that I won't do. I'm so easy. She's super convincing!
On our way home from school on Friday afternoon the following conversation occurred....
Her: Mom, How do you know that there's no such thing as Santa?
Me: Did you talk about this with your friends at school today? (notice I didn't answer the question)
Her: Yes, and they all said that there is a Santa.
Me: Oh
---SILENCE---
Her: So Mom, do you KNOW that there's no Santa or do you THINK there's no Santa?
---SILENCE---
Me: Did other kids wear their pajamas today for the Polar Express?
Her: Yea, and we had popcorn, it was fun!
I guess I have another year of Santa in our lives, and by this time next year little Stephen will be home for about 10.5 months..... for all this to repeat itself.... As I promised, here's Honey's 29 seconds in the spotlight. (It was 59 seconds during practice....)
I'm having a difficult time processing this video - I hope to fix that problem.... but probably not tonight....
